We’ve hired a helper! Her name is Ganga and she comes every Monday, Wednesday and Friday to clean our 2-bedroom apartment and to cook. She whips up all sorts of delicious vegetarian dishes. So far she’s made cauliflower with potatoes, okra, green beans, cabbage, and tomato curry with paneer. Dave has a canister with 4 little compartments all in a thermos to take to work. The best part is it has a cord and he can plug it in to reheat – instead of waiting for the microwave to be free.

  1. While you’re here, you might as well know the local English names of the veggies :) In India, okra is much more charmingly called “lady’s finger”. And it’s “bhindi” in Hindi.

  2. Hi guys!

Only 3 days a week? Really, you guys are roughing it. Glad to hear you’re eating well and found a new place. Dave see you soon – Jenny, will you be visiting?

    love,

  3. Man, I need to get a four compartment canister that you can plug in. That is rad.

  4. Our place is a mess within hours of Ganga leaving. Maybe 3 days isn’t enough! The next time I’ll be in the states is probably for wedding in May. That’s a long time with limited access to decent wine…

  6. Ganga’s cooking was the bomb, I am not a foodie and I really enjoyed the dishes she whipped up. Not only were they tasty, they just seemed all really healthy. Most of the time I had no idea of what I was eating but it didn’t really matter because it was all great.

  7. I would like to get the cook like Ganga who can prepare cauliflower with potatoes, okra, green beans, cabbage, and tomato curry . Hope i will get such kind of cook very soon. Thanks for sharing your experience.
